Faith That Sustains – Week 4: Holding Onto God's Promises

📖 Mark 11:24 – “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”

📖 John 14:27 – “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

📖 2 Corinthians 4:16-17 – “For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”

Devotional Message

Faith is not just about believing when things are easy—it’s about holding onto God’s promises even in difficult times. Mark 11:24 reminds us that when we pray, we must believe that God hears us and will answer in His perfect time and way. Our faith should not waver when we don’t see immediate results; instead, we must trust that God is working behind the scenes.

Jesus promised us peace in John 14:27—a peace that the world cannot give. This means that even when life feels uncertain or overwhelming, our faith anchors us in the peace of Christ. We do not have to live in fear or anxiety because our Savior is always in control.

Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 4:16-17 that trials and hardships are temporary. Even though life brings struggles, our inward spirit is being renewed every day. Our faith helps us see beyond temporary difficulties to the eternal glory that awaits us.

This week, challenge yourself to pray with expectation, trust God’s timing, and rest in His peace. No matter what comes your way, remember that your faith sustains you and keeps you strong through every trial.

Prayer

Lord, I believe in Your promises, even when I don’t see the answers right away. Help me to pray with faith, to trust You completely, and to walk in the peace that Jesus has given me. Strengthen me daily and remind me that my struggles are temporary, but Your glory is eternal. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection: What is something you have been praying for? Instead of worrying, will you choose to believe and rest in God’s peace?

Faith Devotional – Summary of Weeks 1-4

Faith is the foundation of our walk with God. It is through trials that our faith is strengthened, teaching us patience and perseverance (James 1:2-4). No matter what we face, our faith in Christ gives us victory over the world (1 John 5:4) as we fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).

Faith also requires boldness. Jesus tells us that if we have faith and do not doubt, we can move mountains (Matthew 21:21). Without faith, it is impossible to please God, but those who believe will see His power at work (Hebrews 11:6, Mark 9:23).

Trusting God means surrendering our worries and leaning on His guidance (Proverbs 3:5-6). Instead of being anxious, we must pray with thanksgiving, believing that God is with us and will strengthen us (Philippians 4:6, Isaiah 41:10).

Finally, faith sustains us through difficult times. Jesus gives us His peace (John 14:27), and though we may face struggles, our faith renews us daily, leading us to eternal glory (2 Corinthians 4:16-17).

As we continue in faith, may we trust, believe, and rest in God's promises. Faith never fails, because God never fails.
