Mentorship & Leadership: A Titus 2 Calling
Titus 2:3-4 instructs, “Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior… they are to teach what is good, and so train the young women…” This principle extends beyond women; older men are likewise called to disciple younger men (Titus 2:2,6-8). God designed mentorship as a vital part of spiritual growth, shaping the next generation in wisdom, faith, and godliness.
Mentorship is not about perfection but faithfulness. Whether in nursing, missions, or everyday life, experienced believers have a duty to pour into those coming after them. Younger individuals need guidance—someone to encourage them, warn them of pitfalls, and model Christlike character.
Paul mentored Timothy, Elijah guided Elisha, and Jesus Himself discipled His followers. This pattern reminds us that growth happens in relationships. As we walk in obedience, we should seek mentors and, in turn, become mentors.
Are you actively learning from someone wiser in the faith? Are you investing in those younger than you? A simple conversation, a shared testimony, or a moment of prayer could shape someone’s journey forever.
Closing Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the wisdom of those who have walked before us. Help me to be teachable and seek godly counsel. Give me a heart to invest in others, sharing what You have taught me. May I live out the calling of Titus 2, building up the next generation in love and truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Call to Action:
Pray about finding a mentor or becoming one. Reach out to someone younger in the faith this week—encourage them, pray with them, and be a guiding light on their journey.
