“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” — Luke 9:23 (KJV)
Following Jesus is a journey of faith, but it is also a commitment that comes with a cost. In a world that promotes self-centered living, Jesus calls us to deny ourselves, take up our cross daily, and follow Him.
This means surrendering our own desires, comfort, and plans for the sake of His will.
Discipleship is not just about attending church or reading the Bible—it’s about daily choosing Jesus over everything else. It means standing firm in faith when the world pulls you in another direction. It requires humility, patience, and a heart willing to serve.
A Call to Action
For Youth – In school and among friends, it can be tempting to follow the crowd. But Jesus calls you to stand out for Him. Will you choose Christ even when it’s unpopular?
For Mothers & Women – The sacrifice of discipleship is seen in your daily acts of love and service. Whether raising children or supporting others, will you embrace your calling to disciple those around you?
For Gentlemen & Leaders – Leadership in Christ is not about power but about humility and service. Will you lead by example, putting God’s will above your own ambitions?
For New Believers – Walking with Jesus means letting go of old habits and embracing a transformed life. Will you trust God’s plan, even when it challenges you?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to You. Teach me to deny myself, take up my cross daily, and follow You wholeheartedly. Strengthen me when the journey gets hard, and remind me that You are always with me. Help me to be bold in my faith, obedient in my walk, and faithful in my calling. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
This week, ask yourself: What is one thing I need to surrender to Jesus? Pray for strength and take a step of obedience. Will you follow Him, no matter the cost?
Thank you so much for the reminder as a mom sometimes we forget that’s our first ministry is our home.
