Verse:
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." – Psalm 34:18
Devotional:
Waiting for healing can be one of the hardest parts of sickness. Days can feel long, and hope can feel far away. When healing doesn’t come quickly, it can start to feel like maybe God isn’t listening. But this verse reminds us of a powerful truth: God is close to the brokenhearted.
He is not far from your pain. He is not unaware of your suffering. In fact, He is near to you in a special way when your spirit feels crushed. Sometimes, the greatest healing comes not just to our bodies but to our souls—in the way God meets us in our darkest moments.
It’s okay to ask why. It’s okay to cry and to feel tired. God can handle your questions and your tears. He never promised that life would be without trouble, but He did promise that He would be with us in the middle of it.
So if healing hasn’t come yet, hold on. Not just to the hope of physical healing, but to the truth that God has not abandoned you. He is holding you, loving you, and shaping you through this season.
Prayer:
Lord, waiting is hard. I’m tired of being sick, tired of hurting, and tired of wondering when healing will come. But I believe that You are close, even when I don’t feel it. Comfort me in my waiting. Remind me of Your promises. Strengthen my heart, and help me to keep trusting You day by day. Amen.
