New Series: Mentorship & Leadership #3

Matthew 20:26-28
" But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;
27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:
28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many."
Teaches a radical truth about leadership: greatness in God’s Kingdom is not power or status but serving others. Jesus Himself, the Son of God, did not come to be served but to serve. He washed His disciples' feet, healed the sick, fed the hungry, and ultimately gave His life for us.

In a world that often defines leadership by authority and influence, Jesus flips the script. True leadership is found in humility, sacrifice, and a willingness to serve others selflessly. Whether in nursing, missions, or everyday life, the heart of a leader is one that lifts others up rather than seeking recognition.

As mentors, we lead best when we serve with love and integrity. When we invest in the next generation—guiding, teaching, and encouraging—we follow Jesus’ example. Leadership is not about being the loudest voice but about being the most faithful servant.

Ask yourself: Are you leading with a servant’s heart? Do you seek ways to uplift and equip others? Jesus calls us to follow His model—mentoring, leading, and loving through acts of service.

Closing Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for showing us the true meaning of leadership. Help me to serve others with humility and love. Give me a heart that seeks to lift others up rather than seeking my own gain. Teach me to lead by example, just as You did. May my life reflect Your servant-hearted leadership in all that I do. Amen.
