The Heart of Service

Bible Verse:

Devotional

True ministry begins with a heart that is willing to serve. When Jesus walked among people, He did not seek recognition, position, or praise. He served with humility, compassion, and love. As we prepare to serve in Mexico, we are reminded that missions is not about what we can accomplish—it is about allowing God to work through us.

A servant’s heart looks beyond the task and sees the person. We may be asked to prepare food, organize supplies, pray with someone, help a child, share the Gospel, or simply listen to someone’s story. Every act of service matters when it is done for God.

Sometimes we may not receive appreciation for what we do. We may become tired, uncomfortable, or frustrated. In those moments, we must remember whom we are serving. Our service is ultimately an offering to God.

Philippians 2:3-4 reminds us to value others and look beyond our own interests. This is the heart of missions: putting love into action.

As we serve in Mexico, let us not ask, “What can I get from this experience?” but rather, “Lord, how can You use me?” Be willing to serve where needed, encourage your team, show patience, and love people genuinely.

We are not simply traveling to Mexico to complete a mission. We are going to represent Jesus. May our hands serve, our words encourage, our hearts remain humble, and our lives point people toward Christ.

Reflection

Ask yourself: Am I willing to serve even when no one notices? What attitude do I need to surrender to God so that I can serve others with genuine love?

Prayer

Father, give me the heart of a servant. Remove pride, selfishness, and the desire for recognition. Help me serve with humility, patience, compassion, and joy. Use my hands, words, time, and gifts for Your glory. When I become tired, remind me that I am serving You. Help our team love one another and serve the people of Mexico with genuine hearts. May everything we do point others to Jesus. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
